Than do not accept. I add people myself but really should be more vigilant. The only thing I do make sure is make the time to build a relationship and connect before making a request of someone I do not know yet or have not communicated with. I do enjoy reading profiles. Tough you may want o expand yours a bit after you mention twitter.

I hear you, Patrick. I didn't get it at first either. Now, I accept all requests, except children, and try to respond with a thanks if I have the time. I try to stay focused on my actions and being the best person I can be. Regardless of what the herd is doing. And by doing that over the past year, I've developed genuine friendships with about 20 people out of over 700 associates. Accept those requests! Start power networking. If you have any other questions feel free to hit me up!

Guess It's just not clicking with me like Twitter and all the other collaborative online resources. I don't want/need to "collect" people. I want strategic partners. If they are just sticking their card in my door and waiting for me to call on them - I don't know, I don't even know them and I know they haven't taken the time to know me. It isn't that difficult. Maybe I'll just accept their request one at a time long enough to have a conversation. Or, just delete all 103.

OK, Patrick, do it your own way. In my life, serendipity has played a part ---and I'm open to meeting newcomers that life puts in my path. It works for me.
