Anything Goes : Seeking to study post graduate overseas by John McHale

Hi All, I hope somebody can advise me I have a young friend who is completing his first degree in film and performance and hopefully he will gain a 1st in production and directing. he wants to take at least a year in either the States or Europe to complete further studies or alternatively to gain on the job work experience by working with production. Any advice for funding, sponsorship or opportunities. Thanks.
