Michael Vanderosen... Facilitator, Mentor & Storyteller in business, education and personal life...

..."The highest-paid person in the first half of this century will be the storyteller. All professionals, including advertisers, teachers, entrepreneurs, politicians, athletes and religious leaders, will be valued for their ability to create stories that will captivate their audiences..." ~ Rolf Jensen, Former Director of the Copenhagen Institute for Future Studies Employers nowadays are looking for more than just another degree or MBA from the thousands of potential Graduate applicants out there. Outgoing personality, world-view, depth of character, the ability to create a positive impression - even charisma! All characteristics that are usually only achievable via life/work experience or exposure to the advantages that creativity, communication and empathic connection with people brings... characteristics that the art and science of storytelling offers in a multitude of ways and means. The big issue in today's (and tomorrow's) commercial and academic world is that the practice/competence of effective connection and communication via compelling storytelling is sadly lacking amongst leaders, managers and teams in companies, institutions and entrepreneurial enterprises here in Sweden - and practically non-existent in Uni and High School graduates! In fact there seems to be a real dearth of authentic, engaging (not to mention charismatic) person-to-person/person-to-group communication/connection (and decision-making) at most levels of Swedish business, academia, administration and politics ..this is the arena in which my interest lies. I believe that the art/craft and science of Story and storytelling is an absolute necessity in 21st century education for anyone seeking rewarding and fulfilling employment. Graduates/post-graduates/students who learn how to connect and engage convincingly with prospective employers and the outside world are in a far, far better position to compete and succeed in the job/vocational market. Acquiring competence and skill in storytelling creates engaging first impressions and pole positions in building rewarding relationships with prospective management, clients and colleagues. Competence in the use of story/storytelling will give students/graduates the confidence, personality, authenticity and empathic connection they'll need - in and outside their professional and personal lives. Drawing on a lifetime's experience as an empathic connector, communicator and storyteller in many and varied business, visual & performing arts and personal development fields, I've developed effective, creative, fun approaches to helping people in all walks of life to acquire the competence, insight and intuitive use of 'empathic engagement' via the use of Story. Using a cocktail of story, myth, metaphor, public speaking, performance and presentation skills I help people benefit from the fastest, most effective way to connect and communicate since humans learned how to speak: the art and science of Story and storytelling! My website and LinkedIn profiles have an even wordier melange of background on what I do and who I am.... guaranteed to send even the most assiduous reader into a narcoleptic slumber!! ;-)) I look forward to saying hi to anyone brave, patient or foolhardy enough to wade through the above!
