Anything Goes : Motion VS Action by Timothy Andrew Edwards

Motion VS Action

I am not being negative; I truly want to know your thoughts on this. I am curious why many people request me (or anyone else) if they are not going to follow up or do not have a project in mind? Professionally speaking, why would an actor from South Africa wish to connect with an editor in New York City? Is it strictly for support? The "you never know" factor (aka "you usually do know")? Is it like LinkedIn where some people just like to collect names so they feel like they are in the game? Don't get me wrong! I think this is a fantastic resource but I do think it could end up being not much more than a list of names, for most of us, instead of a powerful tool if we are not careful, or rather mindful of how we use the site. Contacting someone is motion. Hiring someone or putting a real project together is action. Here is to not confusing motion with action! Thoughts? Comments?

I agree. I've had requests from everywhere but I don't connect yet. Not that I'm being rude but it seems improbable that I'd be working on my project in Hong Kong with someone in Norway. For chit chat, it's fine. Stage 32 is new to me and I'm watching how things go.

The signal to noise ratio is pretty low. :)
