Introduce Yourself : A New Direction by Holly Rivney

After more than 30 years of writing, I am moving into screenwriting and love it more than anything else I've done. I've written two trade novels, a LOT of technical stuff, copy writing, white papers, edited corporate newsletters, veterinary related blogs, a couple magazine pieces over the years, but nothing major. I have a degree in English, Creative Writing, and this has been my first passion. I joined Stage 32 on the advice of Syd Field, and a few friends in the industry (costume designer, small theater manager, video producer, screenwriter-producer). For the last 15 years I've been trying to make a novel based on the true story of a family member, but it just never jelled. Then I realized that this needs to be a film, not another memoir lost on the internet. I'm a Thespian, but not practicing. I seem to get most of my inspiration from true life, and although I love SciFi, I just can't stretch that far in my own imagination. I find crime and mystery great to watch, but not to write. Not into zombies, vampires, or other pure fantasy; I find true stories are a great start for most any genre, however. I'm also inspired by photographs, music, and places. I hope to meet you in the Happy Writers section one of these days!
