So I'm writing a horror screenplay, in itself a departure for me. I know who my protagonist is, and I know how this will end. As I start to gather my ideas, create the characters, set the scene, the story becomes all about somebody else, with entirely different motives. Now he's getting pushed out of the way by a minor character who is asserting himself. All of THIS is beginning to sound like a story too. This is the first time I have had this experience in quite this way. This part of anybody else's writing life?
I think that sounds exciting. I love it when that happens in my own writing. A story is demanding to be told, and it's really fun to discover it as you write it.

Yes, I know what you mean. When it first happened to me some years back, it felt a tad ethereal.....I was writing, then suddenly the character was leading the pen. It's a totally unplanned spontaneous moment, being drawn in , by seemingly a power outside yourself. Good Luck with the writing.
Thank you. Same to you. And here's hoping it's always this fun.
