At last check-in, I've completed narrating one fiction audiobook, and am nearing completion of a nonfiction audiobook. I'll keep you up-to-date on my profile as those are released. My main focus the first quarter of this year has been the Star Trek fan-produced web series. It's gaining a following, and has been featured on two podcasts, including one at the start of this weekend (should've told you to log in, but it's still available as a recording over at "Tribbles in Ecstasy."). We're wrapping up our first KickStarter attempt, will evaluate the response, continue to build our audience, and attempt other funding avenues later this year. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1358965686/star-trek-anthology It was great to get back on stage last month. A friend called me out of the blue, and set up "the perfect scenario" for someone like me, who hasn't auditioned lately, due to typical demands of stage productions. "Sweet Bird of Youth" was a wonderful experience. I'm glad the opportunity presented itself in a way where I could participate. I kind of want to get right back out there again, but think I need to narrow my focus on other areas for a while.
Hi Scott. I do see that a lot of 32'ers are multi-taskers and wear many hats, but it definitely helps to focus on the main goal while possibly having side projects and backup plans. I personally never was a Trekkie, but I see how this cultural phenomenon could have a great following. Having a good PR person might help.

Most definitely. When the KickStarter was planned, we had a decent publicity campaign mapped out, with a sizeable audience in this particular niche. As we got the ball rolling, as sometimes is the case, "things change," which affected our overall reach. Also with fan films, the methods by which you raise funds are quite restricted, therefore budgets for hiring specialists in this field are nil, and although we have received offers from a variety of firms, none were interested in a pro-bono case at this time. This has been a valuable learning experience, and we have made steps in the right direction to expand our organic reach, so our future efforts will definitely benefit. Hopefully, through connections we have made over the past several months, we will have a modest fund to put towards public relations channels that would be a good fit for this project.
My Kickstarter just funded but we have 5 days left. This is not for the weak of heart! http://bit.ly/BnBRPG

Promote like crazy, and don't give up. There's at least one blog entry and I think a webinar on this site that talks about successful crowdfunding tips. Check them out.
