Hello everyone! I'm Michael Corcoran and when I'm not writing I'm trying to find time to write. Otherwise I can be found at the day job teaching high school math or spending time with my beautiful wife and our four incredible children. I've been writing and developing ideas for features since I saw Good Will Hunting and was bitten by the screenwriting bug. I've written three features through the years while teaching full time and earning two master's degrees in education during that time as well. With the state of education what it is, there's been no better time to get serious about my dream of a writing career. I'm almost finished with a first draft of my latest feature which I believe is my best one yet! My biggest quest right now is to grow and improve as a writer by writing everyday. The most common answer to the question of how do I break in - sell a script - become a working writer is to write a great script. While I write I am doing my best to network and cultivate relationships. My last feature had about half dozen read requests from over two hundred query letters sent via email. This was a result of some great free advice on sending queries, writing queries, and locking down a great logline. This fee advice has come from individuals I have met via Twitter and Facebook. I'm just outside of Chicago, but it's still definitely not Hollywood, LA or New York. Twitter is my main medium for meeting industry people. I'm hoping that someday soon one of these individuals sees the hard work, dedication, and passion to succeed that drives me to write everyday and offers their mentorship. I can't afford consultants and coverage services. I know I can write. I don't need another writer to "teach" me screenwriting. I need a mentor who will take me under his or her wing and capitalize on my work ethic and drive to help me improve and launch a writing career. Thank you for taking the time to read this all the way through. I'm excited to be a Stage32 member. The possibilities here seem endless. I look forward to "meeting" all those writers that are in the same boat as me; those that are chasing the screenwriting dream. I hope to meet many other established writers and maybe a few who are willing to offer their help and insight. Thanks again and have a great day! Michael
