I'm looking to create a two-three minute reel which a couple actors that I have casted... however, I don't even know where to begin when looking for material. I know the role i'm going for and what I can do based on the actors involved, but actually sourcing the stuff is where i'm lost. Any suggestions?

A demo reel can be whatever you want it to be. Artists stop limiting yourselves!

Lisa, yes. But, as I have heard, a bad reel is better than no reel. Not that I intend to make mine bad in any sense, hah! But, for now, since I don't have any work, I will have to do what I can to create something that will at least get me seen. Then, I can work to replace the created scenes with work scenes and continue to replace until I have a dynamite reel. :)

Sean, I like the idea... but i've never written anything in my life. I'm willing to try it out though!

Just make like three or four 2 minutes short films, and then edit them into a reel. Do you have a camera? I can write you a couple of short scripts to show off your acting. I've done it before. Just message me with what kind of characters you would like to play, and the other actor's info too.
Sean, that was very helpful! And i'm working with a few Stage 32 members :) Excited to have this project up and running.
Lisa, thanks for the tips as well! The free music will be most helpful!!
Jean-Pierre, thanks for getting in touch with me via PM. I do have a camera, so no problem there!

Hey Felicia! First, map out your strengths; things you want your viewer to know about you artistically, these will be your buoys to hit when looking for material or writing it yourself. Message me if you like I'd be happy to write something or give tips on choices. Kickass!
Thanks all, for all the helpful information & tips. Things are in motion and I look forward to the outcome as a few Stage 32'ers are getting involved. So far, i've locked down 2 short scripts with 2 cinematographer/editors involved. I'm looking for one or two more scripts that I can mesh into the same shooting day. Should be great for all of us! ^_^ Katie, I did exactly that! I've had a lot of fun with it, in the process. I'll shoot you a private message :) Richard, I wouldn't say that I expect perfection, but i'm shooting high :). The basics & producing material are priority here, so I won't be too hard on myself. ;)
Thanks! :)
Go out in to the street with a friend with a camera that is good and do some TV like things- impro a news cast of something - whatever, then imrpo a couple of characters in the right ambience in costume etc 2 minutes is easily enough. My reel is way too long!
Hi Felicia. There are two things: write your own, or here's a couple of sites http://www.scriptorama.com/ and http://www.scripts.com/. Have fun.
