Why do they call them trailers ... never mind. While I've done a lot of character animation work and vfx work on features such as Sam Raimi's DRAG ME TO HELL (animating the Evil Hanky character), or even on Michael Jackson's ill-fated stage show THIS IS IT, my true playtime is Film Festival opening trailers which play before every event and film to show the sponsor names. Not exactly much use for filling up the coffers but a carte blanche for free expression. Just need to keep the audience entertained even if they are watching it for the 90th time or in Santa Barbara's case, for the 600th time!!! I've been doing opening trailers now for various festivals for 12 years. My first Sonoma opening was back in 2006 when I was asked to create the opening for a Tribute event for John Lasseter with many Pixar and Disney bods in attendance. Intimidating to say the least. Here's what I created for that event. ... https://vimeo.com/101962771 And here are two I did over the years for Santa Barbara International Film Festival. https://vimeo.com/100944851 https://vimeo.com/119137308 Hope you enjoy. My full site with more than 150 animation samples is on www.screamingpixels.com.
looking for 90 min animation pieces mrateringg@hotmail.com Middle East Distribution
Nice!
Thank'ee
Hi Keith I went to your profile and noticed you don't have any reels or credits listed.
Hi Shannon, I no longer use a reel and if you look at the main site you'll understand why. There is a vast range of different skillets I am able to bring to the table and no one wants to watch a 20 minute tell Lol. My site itself www.screamingpixels.com has more than 170 different samples on it. As for Credits I am on IMDB. Enjoy the site and thanks for checking, Keith.
Keith looking for a 90 min animation piece to distribute to the Middle East mrateringg@hotmail.com Mark Ratering
Hi Mark, Don't have any ready-to-wear projects in the drawer. Otherwise would love to oblige. Find some funds and we'd love to do one for you, of course ;O) Cheers, Keith
Why are they called "trailers"? Because originally they followed (trailed) movies. But obviously that has changed!
Beats me. I've tried to retrain everyone to call them openings but to my dismay I've now just managed to elongate the name to Opening Trailer :/ But at least in a mention I got in the last paragraph of the Roger Ebert column a couple of years ago they didn't call it a trailer. thank goodness because like you and me, most people think of trailers as promos for films. http://www.rogerebert.com/festivals-and-awards/seduced-by-sonoma
This is the one mentioned in the article http://screamingpixels.com/portfolio/sonoma-international-film-festival-...
Here is the explanation for the use of the term "trailer" --> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trailer_%28promotion%29
