Post-Production : Quick question... by Sarah Hamilton

Quick question...

quick question: I am planning my first major slow motion battle scene with a Nikon DSLR soon. In the past, I have edited normal footage to be slow and it turned out choppy in Adobe Premiere. Is there any advice for high quality smooth slow motion footage?

Sten Ryason

Always, always overcrank. Editing from normal motion to slow can't really emulate true slo-mo. If you can shoot at a higher frame rate, do it. Does the DSLR has the limitation of not being able shoot more than 60 fps?

Eric Lau

Shooting at a high frame rates will do the trick. If that is not possible, you can slow down in post and the results can be very good as well. Use tools such as twixtor. The optical flow so-mo functions in smoke and avid are very good as well.

thank you both! I have taken the time to look through and learn more about my dslr. I look forward to shooting some slow-motion shots for the film! thank you again for the help!
