Dreaming a Technicolor Dream

I love my job or what I think my job it. I have been involved in make up for years. I got involved when I realized my family was never going to settle down and let me follow my passion of being an actress on stage. I got tired of the constant nagging, bickering, and yes even bulling about my dream degree and job. Granted few of my family members took time out of their life to ever really watch me perform to learn I was good and passionate about what I was doing. I even loved the technical aspect of working with the stage; properties, costumes, and yes theatrical make up. I still own a whole kit of Ben Nye stage make up. It was how I got started. I was known for my Vampire and undead transformations in the most classical sense. I had a keen eye for color and layering. An internal color wheel lived inside my mind and I could look at someone and KNOW what would work with them, which helped with my odd summer jobs to pay for my growing make up horde. So, when I surrendered my Theater major for a minor I took a few classes for make up arts. I read up, I watched video after video. I worked with production teams as a Techie. I took up my old hobby of Photography and did the make up for my models. I learned from them. I have worked ten years as a make up artist with professional models. I turned my focus on that. I suddenly found passion in making everyone's beauty shine. Everyone is beautiful, you just have to highlight what is there. Sure you can make anyone a monster if you throw enough appliances on there. Working with beautiful people is easy too, but you need to make it look effortless. I loved the interaction. I loved the color, talking with them, learning about their life. I could awaken that light and then the photographer got to capture that and BOOM for a moment in time I helped make something greater than a "vamp vixen." I was hooked and I haven't looked back. I can still make and arrange costumes and properties. I still enjoy it. I can still create an amazing theatrical character. I don't work much with appliances anymore due to latex allergy. But I love beauty make up, working with photographers, models, and fashion. All people working in the industry end up needing photos I have learned and use MUA's and I like being someone they can relax with, laugh with, and have a great time with while looking amazing. Beauty come from within, I just want to show you the world what I see. :-) Sorry it is so long I am very passionate and when I gave up that Theater degree I got on in English literature instead. LOL.
