It's a Wonderful Day

So thrilled to share my 7th short film as writer (and yes, lead actress),"It's a Wonderful Day". If you have 6 minutes to spare I would appreciate the feedback! Thanks so much and have a good one! https://youtu.be/eeIKtQwzq_c

Hello Julie, don't know exactly what to make of this, but I congratulate you on the energy you put into this short - but I must confess, while it took a while for me to warm to your effort, by the second half there was a measure of appeal - while not quite to my taste, I recognise a good effort and you deserve some kudos for your creation - sorry it's probably not what you want to hear, but it was okay - while people talk about making shorts, you've actually gone out and made one, actually, your seventh, so you have my admiration, cheers.

Cherie Grant

Yeah it's definitely not in the UK dude. Very obviously US.

Julie Brett

Hey thanks for watching! Love your notes, really appreciate it!

Melonie Zarko

I liked it. It made me smile and laugh. I don't know much about directing or producing, but the story was a very funny and I found the beginning set up charming. I grew up watching Mr. Roger's Neighborhood and love musicals. Your short was a hit with me.

Julie Brett

Thanks John and Melonie!

Ron Brassfield

Nice work. I'm always at a loss as to how to write shorts, but this worked. Just curious, is this singing mail woman a persona you use, a la stand-up work, or was it something you developed just for this short? Anyway, I thought it was effective. Cheers!

Julie Brett

Hey Ron, I came up with the character for the film. Frankly, I wanted to have a scene where I could sing and dance down the street and based the entire film around that. Postal worker struck me as the most logical choice. :) Thanks for your kind words.

Laura Dulin

cute!

Thank you Laura and Jason! Appreciate it!

Becca-Chris M

Nice job, Julie. I think it was well-done. :)

Thanks Becca!

Wanted to give a hearty thank you to every one who has watched and given me feedback! Learned a lot from you all! Cheers!

That's lovely Boomer, thank you!

Starting right away with the musical number didn't set the scene well enough for me. Starting the movie with a softer touch would give viewers a chance to get to know the characters before moving into a high-energy song and dance. The telling of the story was a bit unrealistic, just like most musicals are meant to be. It takes a lot of skill to make an audience buy into the world you created so quickly, and you did it well. Technically it was very well done, though I was looking for the crumpled piece of paper that Sarah throws on the ground. This is one of the better shorts I've seen this year. Well done in my opinion.

Julie Brett

Thank you o much Jay for your feedback and kind words) My dad actually pointed out the crumpled paper to me, as I hadn't even noticed through all of post. doh! :)
