Character descriptions in spec samples

When writing a spec sample for an existing show, how detailed do you need to be in character descriptions? If a show is several seasons in and the characters are well established it seems a waste of page space to go into detailed character descriptions. Or do readers want to see the descriptions to make sure you have a firm grasp on the "voice" of the character? Kind of a technical questions I guess but I was just wondering if anyone with experience had any thoughts.

Jean-Pierre Chapoteau

No detail at all. Just put their name in caps when they're introduced and that's it. No age, description, nothing.
