The Stage: Playwright David Javerbaum receives edible "trophy" at Studio 54 for his play "Act of God"

New York, NY ---- The playwright of Jim Parsons’ new “Act of God,” David Javerbaum, received an on-theme gift backstage at Studio 54 from his bosses at “The Late Late Show With James Corden” at the play’s opening night Thursday. “They sent him a huge congratulations cake in the form of a baby blue cross, complete with a rosary and chalice,” says a source. The congratulations note for Javerbaum, whose writing credits include David Letterman and “The Daily Show,” was written in edible fondant. Guests at the Brasserie 8½ after-party for the show, which stars Parsons as God, included Ellen Barkin, George C. Wolfe, Jason Alexander, Zach Braff and James Lipton.
