One of my favorite shows is GET SMART. And when I heard that Steve Carrel was playing the lead in the feature a few years ago, I couldn't wait to see it. But I was so disappointed! They didn't use the same type of humor. I was dumbfounded. Then I read that the producers figured, if they used the original type of humor, people would think they were ripping off the POLICE SQUAD movies, even though the GET SMART series came first. So I wrote a pilot for a sitcom that would have GET SMARTS DNA at its heart, hoping that people nowadays would still find it funny. And it was with some trepidation that I pitched it to 3 Arts. Well, they've asked for the script. I hope there's a place on television for something like this, but just getting someone to read the script is a win for me. Oh, and just in case you're wondering, which I'm sure you're not ;-), S.Q.U.A.T. stands for Special Quorum United Against Trouble.

I love the GET SMART television series. The humor still holds today. Congratulations on the request from 3 Arts Entertainment. Do you have a KAOS for yout SQUAT? I loved that CONTROL and KAOS as both words (well technically its chaos but we all got it) and orgainzation were both opposites.
Thanks, everyone. Yes, Eric, there's something like KAOS. It's head is Justin Case's ex-wife. It is called C.I.T.T.E.N. (Criminals Incorporating Terrible Tactics Every Nanosecond). And it is pronounced with a hard 'C', like Kitten. Of course, the running gag is Justin never getting it correct, always calling it 'sittin' and his chief, partner, ex, etc. are always correcting him. Trust me, the script reads better than what I just posted!

'Would you believe...' I didn't! I'm trying to retain a little bit of originality! Hey, did you ever see the GET SMART movie from 1979 and they way he uses the 'Missed it by that much' line? Guess by '79 the censors were a little more lenient!

Hey, did you ever see the GET SMART 'Nude Bomb' movie from 1979 and the way Max uses the 'Missed it by that much' line? I guess by then the censors were more forgiving, and being a feature, he was allowed to say it in a more, ahem, sensitive situation.

Frank, YES! I did see "The Nude Bomb"... with my Mom... when I was pre-teenage. How about that for "Missed it by thatmuch"?!? She also took me to see "The Jerk" around that time. Talk 'bout cool moms, eh? ;-)
