Just popping in to say hello on this fabulous weekend in So. Cal. We just wrapped my first short film based on a short story I wrote and then wrote the screenplay for. I have 7 published works either currently available or in editing getting ready for release. I am just having fun and learning a great deal. I am a wee bit long in the tooth to have any illusions about the future but I just love everything Hollywood. I was in my first film in 1968 as an extra and caught the bug. Now all these years later I have produced my own. Fun in the sun you might say. But oh, my how hard it is. And dealing with personalities is a lesson unto itself. Anyway, drop me a line if you will and forgive all the I statements. Now I am off to my next project.

Hi Gary! I love that you went from acting a story out to creating your own.

You have fun writing? And you can pay next month's rent? That's a dream life! As a writer you are the first link in the chain so think of what you can do entrepreneurially that cuts out the middle men -- like self-publishing -- or web series and the like. And stay positive!

BILL I do indeed love writing but my turn at the typewriter was a bit different. My wife started feeling the affects of Alzheimer's about 6 years ago. Since I needed to care for her I sold my ranch, the (drought got my livestock) and moved to the city for medical care. one day she was sleeping so I sat down and wrote my memoir. sold it to a company and it all started from there. (now the first question I always get is "Who are you?" when I tell them someone wanted my story). anyway not important. I wrote a novel after that and the words just keep coming. My current company has asked me just keep writing them and they will publish. the irony is my 7th grade English teacher told me I would never be a writer. (nothing against teachers at all, they are great but she was just wrong). anyway that's the short version.
Pretty fantastic post, Gary. Your output and persistence is inspiring as hell. Congrats on the short!
