Introduce Yourself : Cinematographer / Editor by Randy Mills

I'm a cinematographer / editor who just moved to Northern California after 12 amazing years on Maui to live closer to family. I just spent the last 2 days shooting a short film with a couple of local Sacramento guys I met here on Stage 32! The piece was shot completely at night with mostly available light on my Blackmagic Production Camera in 4K RAW. We had a great time shooting and will be editing over the next 10 days and it will be interesting to see how the image holds up and what we are able to pull out of it. I'm excited! Stage 32 has been, and continues to be, a great resource for me as I transition into my new home market and out of a role as a digital imaging tech (DIT) on network reality shows. Having put in my fair share of time on large scale traveling reality series, I can say with a smile on my face that I'm making the transition without a glance back. I've seen a huge degradation in the way executives treat their crews over the past few years and while I can say that I've worked alongside some of the best, I've also experienced some of the worst. It's disappointing to see the trend these days. But, I digress, that is a topic for another time and place. :) In getting back to introducing myself...I've also agreed to take on more work as an editor for the online animation studio Theory Animation, and really look forward to being an integral part of encouraging growth in this type of online studio environment. I think the Theory method has a lot of potential, demonstrating how we might all work in the very near future. Allowing us to work remotely, together. Kinda like Stage 32 in a lot of ways.
