I'm a photographer, I shoot a lot of actors headshots, am lucky my actors seem to bag auditions and parts on stage, film and TV after. But I know that's not always the case. What's been your experience? What has made a good (or bad!) session for you? I set up Acting Wings with coach and actor, Anthony Donnelly, we are running a session with a difference. Group session, traditional headshots, coaching, and group improv session where you are photographed acting as well. What would you think of taking part in that? http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-iron-room-session-refresh-your-headsho...
Where are you located?
I always prefer to find someone who will give me a CD with all the shots rather than pay for the final ONE shot. Finding someone that is good at directing you on camera is also super important. I've taken pictures with people who gave me little-no direction and then when I looked at the shots it was obvious I needed some minor tweaks in my body to look more natural. SOO many people are offering "headshots" in L.A. now but rather than go to someone that might save me money, I always go to someone I know always gives a great product!
So very true, Nicole! I feel very fortunate that I found Vanessa Champion earlier this year for my headshots. Not only did she put me completely at easy (which I think is important to being natural) but she also interacted a lot, giving feedback on looks and poses. I also got about 130 photos out of the shoot and haven't needed to touch up any of them. All in all a thoroughly awesome experience!
So interesting! They are still using B&W headshots in the UK??
