Introduce Yourself : Not Your Granddaddy's Renaissance Man by Jimmy Slonina

I am a physical comic, voice actor, lip sync artist, graphic and web designer, body paint photographer, and unseemly ukulele player — more or less in that order. A cirque clown (‘cirque’ with both upper and lower case “C”) with decades of experience performing under varied disciplines — mostly comedic, largely physical — I’m a performance artist tirelessly searching for truth and relevance in the characters I create and the stories I tell. My work stands out because I’m a painstaking and foolhardy perfectionist. Whether it’s onstage or on-mic, in front or behind the camera, or with visual, digital art, my processes usually result in a product with a hard edge and a clean finish. It’s exhilarating to go from entertaining less than 200 people a night in various small-scale theaters, to 2,000 a night with Cirque du Soleil, to up to 20,000 a night with the pop singer P!NK, performing in nearly every corner of the U.S. and the world. Though I also find much joy in more intimate artistic ventures, such as self-producing wildly popular (read: viral) lip sync videos and other outside-the-box-yet-accessible projects.
