I am in pre-production of my first film called "UNSUNG" The Forgotten. (http://mgolsen.com/unsung/index.html) This started out as a short film assignment for school but in the past 2 weeks has snowballed. I have over 600 actors and actresses that have requested to audition and my casting agent is still getting request. ANY funding help would be greatly appreciated. I have also posted on https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/unsung-the-forgotten--3/x/11961574#/s... Here is the Synopsis: In "UNSUNG" The Forgotten, the audience is presented with internal battles of SGT Tony Byrne who must face alone in dealing with his survivor's guilt and PTSD due to the death during his last deployment of PFC Ricky Monroe. The audience is also presented with the daily challenges that are faced by a military family. The emotional and physical strains that are placed on a military spouse and her two daughters when he is deployed for the third time. During his deployment, his wife learns that he has been injured but she does not yet know to what extent. Upon his return, she learns that he has lost his right leg and realizes that in addition to her role as a wife and a mother, she now must assume the role of her husbands caregiver. A role that she has no knowledge of yet but finds herself dealing with the burracratic side of the Army and the VA. Meanwile she is also trying to get her husband back mentally and emotionally. In the end she conquors the burracacy and Tony realizes that even though he will never be the same, his role as husband and father are now more important then ever. Here is my crew list as of now: Director - Michael Olsen Producers - Albert Roberts, Tim Everett Music Composer - Sean McAllister Make Up Artists - Romina Porras, Stella Amore Wardrobe Supervisor - Mary Armgard Casting - Carolyn Jenkins Agency
@Michael Olsen .......in the past 2 weeks has snowballed. Has snowballed into what? It's still a short, where's it going other than to "class" and maybe some festivals? Are you saying it's now going to be a teaser to obtain funding for a feature length version?
Sorry, it has snowballed into a feature film. As I said I have over 600 actors and actresses that have requested to audition and my casting agent is still getting request. ANY funding help would be greatly appreciated.

Michael, There is no need to audition them all. Whittle it down any way you see fit from their head shots (photo, gender, age, experience) and then call in a reasonable amount for an audition (about 30 in a day for experienced casting crew). If you find your cast from the first round, great, if not, go another round. Honestly, if you're getting this frazzled so early in the pre-production process, you're not going to make it through the entire production. Also, your story is all over the place. I think it's too much for a first time director to handle. Trim off a lot of the fat and tell a solid shorter story rather than an epic tale that covers so many issues. Choose one of the three conflicts you've described and go with that, but I advise staying away from the internal struggle (guilt). It's likely you'll lose your audience from boredom. External struggles, with other people or the system, are far more interesting to watch. As another 22 year Army Vet, I criticize with love. Rich
Whittling down the 600 actors to the handful that have the potential to fit the role is the casting agents job. Sounds like they aren't doing that.
