Greetings to all my fellow stage32 members. My name is Jesse Kuba. I'm into screenwriting. I have been writing for two years now. I wake up I the morning with an idea and I enthusiastically dash to my laptop to work on it, but once I get there and see the blank page all the excitement fades away. I grumble and lament for about five minutes about nothing in particular, then I force myself to write a couple lines. I say to myself "Just one page and I'm done." This would go on for hours, I'll take breaks in between. But by the time I'm finally done it's sunset and I have written a lot more than one page. I drag myself to bed and the ritual repeats itself the next day.
Jessie: Welcome to Stage 32 and I hope you connect with some intriguing and inspiring people here. I recommend taking an idea and formulating it into an outline. Doing some solid upfront work to determine your writing objectives makes your scriptwriting experience much easier. Work on basic elements such as: 1) Do you have compelling idea? 2) Basic characters including protagonist and antagonist 3) Character goals, obstacles and challenges 4) Inciting incident and plot points 5) This sounds obvious but a beginning, middle and end Since you've been at it for two years, I assume you've done some reading on the subject. If not I suggest the following books: 1) The Screenwriter's Bible, The Hollywood Standard and The Ten Day Screenplay Regards, Phillip
Hey Jesse, this is Beth from the Stage 32 team. I just wanted to let you know I moved your post from Screenwriting to Introduce Yourself, as it fits much better there. Let me know if you have any questions, and all the best to you!
