Your Stage : Title help. by Geoffrey Calhoun

Geoffrey Calhoun

Title help.

Greetings fellow writers. My producer and I are having trouble with the title of a creature feature I wrote. What do you think of Maw. Does that sound catchy or stupid? Any ideas?

Geoffrey Calhoun

I've sent over a list of two dozen titles. It's about a creature that hunts a group of scientists in the Amazon. It has a large toothy mouth. Maw is a word it means mouth, throat or gullet. Any ideas.

Craig D Griffiths

What is their aim, short term goal, "survive till dawn"? Are they the reason it happened "specimen 99". Perhaps state the creatures pov "human prey" or "bloody Amazon". I think be literal. Clever names need clever people to work them out. When I watch a film I want entertainment not a puzzle (just me). I am a fan of a title being a "it does what it says on the box" type title.

Dawn Murrell

Maybe you can go with the meaning and call it Mouth or "The Mouth". I think it would draw a visual much like Jaws if you had an awesome poster to go with it. Just a suggestion, Good Luck! :)

Jim Duncan

I like, "Maw". Short, foreboding, and peaks my interest.

Thanks a ton gang! I am going to try these out and send them to my producer. Let's see if anything sticks

Jean-Pierre Chapoteau

Go with Maw. No one knows what it is, and that's perfect for a creature feature.

Marc Morgenstern

The Gaping Maw?

Alan M. Cossettini

How did this end?

Geoffrey Calhoun

Thanks! I agree. My producer did not. However as it stands. Syfy loved the script and said they would have optioned it two years ago. But as of now they aren't interested in doing creature features. So for now it is shelved. But I do have thriller being pitched to lifetime.
