A Good Starting Rate for Freelance Editors?

As the title implies, I'm starting a brand new freelance video editing service, White Studio Media. I suppose this is a two-part question. When you first started out as a freelance editor: 1) How did you first go about attracting clients to your new service? 2) What was your starting rate that you charged people? ($$ amount, and by hour/day/minute of footage?) I'd love the advice from the community. Thanks, all!

I am also thinking about starting freelance, doing color grading, and am also wondering about this.

I do freelance wedding videos and I do pretty well. I charge either based off the number of events or days the wedding has. You have to know what your time is worth. If you're getting low pay, odds are you aren't going to take to take the project seriously and deliver a mediocre product. My base rate for a normal american wedding highlight is $500 and more for any other kind. I used those highlights I did to get me more jobs with other companies.
