Advice needed urgently

Hi everyone. So a few months ago I was lucky enough to get selected to attend FEST - Pitching Forum in Porto, Portugal where I would pitch in front of industry execs. I of course attended and managed to win along with someone else in my category. Also after my pitch an agent asked me to send him my script but he didn't have his e-mail on him. The prize for winning was 3 months of mentoring. So I tracked down the man's secretary's e-mail when I was home and sent him my script through her and heard nothing back after. I followed up with the headers of the program to see if my mentorship was still in the works. I was assured it was and I'd be contacted in september. So last week, they contacted everyone else who won mentorship . . . but me. I sent an e-mail enquiring about this the day before yesterday. . . no reply. This is really bothering me, if I had not won in my category would have been fine, but I did and now I feel odd and snubbed and I don't know what to do. I have one of the festival runners on facebook, the one I e-mailed to be exact, would messaging her on there be too much? I don't know what to do, this could have been so helpful and I am just so dissapointed that such a well renowned festival would just leave me in the lurch like this. Any advice?

Hi Sonibel, I don't think messaging your contact would be too much at all. You won in your category, so you're entitles to your prize. And for them to contact everyone BUT you? No, I would DEFINITELY follow up with my contact. If they're smart, they'll realize this looks bad for their competition and get the situation rectified -- or at least provide some kind of explanation as to why you have not been contacted.

Eric Kinloch

I agree with Kevin. I would contact them.

An agent asked you to send him your script -- but he "didn't have his email on him." That strikes me as very peculiar. Most people have an email address memorized. Smells fishy...!

Sonibel Rae

Thank you for the advice, turns out it was a mere misunderstanding and I've sorted it now :)

Christopher Joseph

Yah, I was about to say it sounded like they was about to purge your script! Glad you have it worked out, that is a relief!

Sonibel Rae: I always bring extra cards to any event. If I want a person's card and s/he says, "I ran out," I hand over one of my cards and I say, "Please write your contact info here so I'll have it." SIMPLE.

Yeah, it sounded like a misstep somewhere don the line, especially when you said others have been already contacted. I'm sure a inquiry into "why" was your privilege.
