Getting around at the Austin Film Festival

Hi - I'm submitting scripts to the AFF for 2016, and plan on going to the conference. I will probably be staying in an outlying hotel ($300 a night just gravels my goat). Suggestions on car rentals vs. taxi''s or UBER? Local bus transportation is not an option. Thanks all.

I go a lot, Sue. The best deal I got was twice when I stayed at the nearby Hilton Garden Inn, which is sometimes available through the festival, but the same rate is also available at Hotels.com, etc. I wouldn't do too far outlying because the conference/festival is really nonstop opportunities almost 24-7 and you don't want "home" to be too far away. It's for this reason that this year I'm for the second time splurging on the Driskill. As AFF says every year on their website, staying there really puts you at the center of the action (quite a bit of which takes place in the Driskill Bar!) and provides the best experience of the conference. Good luck with your scripts, and by all means do go. I get so much out of it every time.
