Filmmaking / Directing : Ideas for Location by Erik Niel

Hi all, I am making a homage to Twilight zone short. I live in Los Angeles and am looking for a secluded desert road location, with old builds, from an earlier era, 1950's, 1960's if possible. The real importance is isolation. I am trying to keep the travel distance from LA about 4hr max. Any ideas where to start scouting? Thanks everyone, Erik
