Runboard.com - Screenwriters Market

Came across this site forum today that allegedly has producers asking for scripts on it. Just wondering if anybody has any experience/success from using this site and whether it is trustworthy or not? https://bproducersseekingscreenplays.runboard.com/f1

Alex: Thanks for posting this. Looks interesting.

No problem, but be careful, I have no idea if it's trustworthy or not!

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique

Alex: It's all a crap shoot.

Alex Hunt

What makes you say that?

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique

Alex: What I mean is that I'll reach out to a hundred people to make two good connections. As I've stated in the forum, many writers worry too much about having their work stolen. I've had several less than satisfactory experiences working with people off ads but have learned much by continuing to reach out to people.

Alex, the site you mentioned has been around a few years but no one knows anything about who runs it, how it became, etc... Basically, it's a simple classified page for writers to connect with so-called producers, similar to going on Craigslist. My advice would be to avoid it or anything like it and join IMDB Pro or Slated.com to find reputable producers. Both sites are trustworthy and you can check the producer's previous work from there to see if they are truly who they say they are. You can never tell in a classified ad. Alternately, you can try sites like the International Screenwriter's Association and Mandy.com. Screenwriting contests like Blue Cat, Zoetrope and AFF are also a good way to get your script out there as well. You can use WithoutABox to submit to those contests simultaneously, also a trustworthy site. To protect your work, first email it to yourself (the easiest and technical way of free copyright) - THEN, register your scripts at either, WGAE or WGAW and the US Copyright Office for added protection. I'm sure you know all that already. Hope this helps a bit. Good luck to you.

Thanks Phillip and Veronica, I wasn't sure about it myself so thanks for clarifying! I did post on it just to see if I got anything back, if I do I'll make sure to research whoever replies vigorously but for the most part I probably won't use it again!
