Rather good feedback from WeScreenplay competition for sci-fi script THE DRAGON RIDER

As the WeScreenplay competition excludes budget & marketability from the judging criteria, I entered my gigabudget sci-fi script THE DRAGON RIDER. “This is a terrific piece that does an excellent job of making the impossible probable. The lead character is compelling and complex." That's how the Judges' Notes started. The contest prize also included 1-2 pages of Judges’ Notes, which you get long before the competition results are announced, and are independent of the actual results. I’ve just received my Judges’ Notes, and they were highly complimentary. Here are some more extracts: "The battle scenes are well thought out and are exciting to experience. [The lead character] doesn't fall easily into the role of hero and that helps to make the journey more interesting. Because she is so rough around the edges in the beginning, it must be cast with an actor whose core embodies a hero. The story is full of interesting characters and creatures. Not all of the good guys live and that added level of sacrifice and poignancy give the piece a greater resonance... the writer has a rich imagination... the scenes are visually stunning and powerful… This is a studio movie and has enough sweep and vision to fill the requirements of such a movie.” As the experience of being a writer is frequently beset with rejection and disappointment, it's nice, I'm sure you'll concur, to get some praise every now and then. Now all I need is someone with $100 million in their back pocket to agree with the notes...
