Hello everyone. I have been on here for awhile. I base out of Florida. My name is Roy Lewis Garton. I am on IMDB. I am a actor, director of commercials, PSA's and short films, and producer as well. I have been acting since a pre-teen. Recent shows I have appeared in are Burn Notice and Airplane Repo. My biggest challenge is we seem to never be able to get Central Florida Stage 32 members together for meet-ups. Anyone ever can figure that out with our busy schedules, let me know. The other worst thing we face here in Florida is no work. With our wonderful Governor killing the film incentive bill for the second time, we have lost millions in film production with Georgia, the Carolinas and Tennessee now getting the bulk of the business. Many of us since we are established and not in our 20's and with families and homes just can not afford to pack up and move and driving 300 miles for a audition which we all know are crap shoots is also out of the question. (video auditions are a rarity) There is some extra work available here in Miami but again, Living near Orlando and driving 200 miles which requires usually overnight lodging and getting paid $100.00 for a 12 hour day for background work is stupid and I am way past that. So here we all sit waiting for filming to come back to the Sunshine State. Our agents are frustrated, some going out of business, and what auditions to come available, it is a cattle call of over 100 people all going for the same roll. Casting Directors get stressed knowing how bad it is. So anyway. We continue to survive doing other industry related work. Sad this is what it has all come down to. Which state is willing to sell the farm to get film production in their back yard.
Happy Intro Weekend! Every time I look up I see something amazing that Stage32.com is doing for, with, and in the film/television industry. I am a actress based in Atlanta and have been "training" in professional theater for over 13 years with over 20 years of training and performance in the operatic and western classical repertoire.Along with writing film, television, and stage projects I am currently writing the second installment in my one woman show trilogy and would like to become a part of a film, television communities nationally and internationally. Ok, I am writing too many words and I gotta get t the theater. Y'all have a great weekend and thank you Stage32 team.
Welcome, Roy. Hey, sorry to hear about whats going on in your state with the film industry. You might want to just wait for a lead part in another city and if the pay is good, travel. I have a friend who lived in NYC and his agent was in Los Angeles and he would send him for castings here in New York. Stay positive, buddy.
