I would love to write a Star Wars movie. Because, who wouldn't?

I chose, "Ordinary People" because I would like to know if the mother ever made up with her son, whom she was so mean with, just because he survived the drowning accident and her favorite son died. Thanks, Aaron, buddy, I like this.

Oh so many too choose from, but I think I would go with The Goonies. I would love the chance to go on a Goonie Adventure.

Friday the 13th... I feel like there is a variation of a sequel.. maybe put it between Friday the 13th part 3 and part 4 --- call it Friday the 13th part 3.5 that could be pretty cool. Jason ventures into a ghost town that's been taken over by a movie-shoot filming a horror movie. Sort of a "Scream" take on the "Friday the 13th" series.

It would be "Edward Scissorhands". A beautiful love story about self and others. It could be about a mysterious man that moves in and discovers Edward, a diary and notes about the making of Edward and adventures, etc. and he tries to make his own version of Edward but the man has a dark past that he is running from and his motives are questionable. Or "Lethal Weapon". It seems like great fun to work on. I love buddy movies.

@Erica, the Goonies sequel is coming. I would have to choose John Carpenter's "They Live". It resonates today and so many possibilities to write into the plot.

Adventures in Babysitting. The original kid should be old enough to turn into a last minute/frazzled babysitter by now.

@David, there has been talk of a Goonies sequel ever since the first one came out. I did hear they might be more serious this time, much like all the talk of a Ghostbusters sequel for years finally happened.

It has the usual hurdles many other reboots or sequels have. Funny how this plays well into this thread. Chris Colombus said it is in the works but not on the fast track. David, I was thinking They Live too... awesome choice.... I wish Roddy Piper was still alive to make it. He was a true legend and from all accounts, a real great guy.

@S. Douglas: I had the pleasure to work with Roddy Piper. Some great conversations. Had much in common. Shame his past demons took the toll on his body that it did. Even he knew he wouldn't make it to 65.

I loved The Goonies, one of my favourite films. Classic. :) I'm just worried if they do make a sequel it will ruin in the name.

I would write a sequel to The Dark Knight Rises, because I was not happy with that movie nor the way it ended. It could have been a lot better.

Ya know, the first thing that popped into my head was American History X, not sure why. It's a movie that really stayed with me, so maybe I just want a chance to explore the why of that. I own it but haven't watched in years. I'd also love to write another season of the TV show Firefly. =D Goonies never say die!

Good call on the batman. Dark Knight is the best. The story. The acting. The action. It was brilliant from the start to finish and loved the soundtrack. The 3rd was a good film, just not as great, almost an anticlimax. Did like how Robin might have taken over... become Nightwing... leaving Bruce to retire.

Thanks everyone for your insightful answers. The question came to me as I watched the latest Star Wars trailer (so looking forward to it) and got me thinking how films helped shape part of our childhood and lives. From seeing Jurassic Park in the cinema for the first time, to sneaking a look at Alien from the stairs through a gap in the door purposely left open. Personally I'd love to do a Star Wars, because of the rich universe and characters (and in mine the bad guys win), but also... I know I'm saying two, but an Alien film worthy of the franchise. To return it from the two sequels and the bitter pill of both AvP films. So much potential. Just read the books for crying out loud. Please keep the answers coming. I would like to write CREED 2. I just went to see the movie and I already have the storyline for the second one plotted in my head. I can see the twists and turns to already make it.

Friday the 13th. Just because I seriously believe that Jason Voorhees can come back in a major way, and maybe I could find some way to justify what they did to the franchise with Jason X. I have actually already figured it out, but of course I can not reveal the premise at the moment. Besides, they have another reboot (or something like that) that's about to come out soon. I need to see which direction they took it this time.

For me it would be E.T! I would love perhaps if E.T's family come back and reconnect with Elliot, who of course would be now working on a secret alien project for NASA who are close to invading E.T's planet... :) Imagine how amazing E.T could look with today's CGI. And E.T was my favourite movie when I was a child. That film has always stayed with me and even my own kids loved it when they were younger as well. A true classic.

Well, This is a difficult question. I hesitate between The Strange Case Of Benjamin Button and Dr Strangelove... :o)
