Like all of us on Stage32, working hard to realize that dream we have of getting to create something beautiful, to tell a great story. I still have my day job but have finally been able to focus myself on the things I want to do and some of the people I want to work with (always looking for others). It's great to be here.
Welcome to Stage 32, Michael!

Welcome!
Glad you are here!
Welcome to Stage 32, and best wishes for your dreams to become reality! Are you working on anything interesting at present? :-)
you speak for alot of us!
Welcome Michael. Unless a person was fortunate enough to be born in an affluent family, EVERYONE has to work a day job while following their dream to some degree! Difference is, you're actually doing something about your dream, while others just keep talking about it like a dream. It's some great talent on here. Keep it up. You never know who you'll meet at Stage32.
Thanks all.
Good luck to you, Michael. I feel very fortunate I haven't had a day job for a year and a half now. When I was working my day job, it was extremely stressful for me, and I couldn't write. I had to quit and was able to get more writing done than I had ever done in the last 5 years.

Day jobs are necessary evil for most of us. I feel fortunate that my job pays decent and I get 5-6 weeks paid vacation a year. It's also interesting enough to keep me entertained, but low stress enough I can do things like post on stage 32 during working hours! Plus it's great fodder for my writing
Good on you! There's nothing better than following the dream :).

I've always thought a good day job was one of the most important things for a writer to have. I'm not a big believer in the starving artist thing, although it has worked for a lot of people. It took me a while to find the right one, but I've been working for a number of years now as a freelance book editor. I work from home, set my own hours, and I'm helping other writers and learning while I'm working. So not so bad. I'd still LOVE to leave it behind.
