I am a former newspaper and magazine writer and editor with a degree in film and a minor in theater (Santa Fe University of Art and Design). I've recently moved to Seattle to be near my family and finally have the time and energy to write those stories I've been dreaming of. So, of course, I'm experiencing what in a certain paradigm might be called writer's block, now that it's time to put up or shut up. Stage 32 is truly a lifeline -- every time I find myself about ready to throw in the towel, an interesting blog shows up in my inbox, or an appealing Happy Writers class comes up. I'm such a sucker for those classes. :=} I hope to put my finely honed editorial chops to work for other screenwriters by copyediting and proofreading manuscripts and cover letters before they're sent out for critical appraisal. I know from years of experience that I make writers sound and look better, and, because I have training in script writing, I believe I can create a niche for myself in that specialized world. I grew up in Oklahoma and moved as an adult to the Rocky Mountain region. I have worked for newspapers in New Mexico, Wyoming and Colorado, and most recently spent several years as an editor for Mother Earth News, one of the world's oldest and best-respected environmental/sustainability magazines. I also am a singer and have sung in a few bands over the years, most recently in the Kansas City area.
I would also love to figure out how to remove that enormous photo of myself, which I posted by accident. :=>
Would it not be more logic to say: "I Write, I Edit, I'm Sleepless in Seattle." Or would that be plagiarism?
