Introduce Yourself : Movie Nights with Grandma by Andrea Margaret Higgins

Movie Nights with Grandma

Grandma had a collection of old movies. When I was a little and visited her, we'd stay up late watching Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers; Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse; Spencer Tracy, Katherine Hepburn, Jimmy Stewart, Grace Kelly, Gregory Peck...well, you get the idea. Those movies still live in me today. They helped me to understand the expressive power of dance and the enduring power of a good story told well. They helped to shape my sensibility. I'm Andrea Higgins, a dancer, dance educator, and choreographer based about halfway between Boston and Providence. I have worked in classical and contemporary genres of dance as a performer, and have experience teaching and choreographing for all ages and levels of ability. I am especially good working with kids, and have choreographed hundreds of children's productions. I have also done a couple of more serious choreography commissions, and would like to do more work with dance and movement for film and theater. I am a certified teacher of the Feldenkrais Method of movement. My VO experience includes several web books that focus on this mind body method. My film work includes featured supporting roles in two short films, Giddy in Love and Morris' the latter of which will be on the festival circuit in 2016. I joined Stage 32 so that I could sign up for a screenwriting class, and have been so impressed with the positive and genuine nature of the posts I have read so far. I am happy to be here with you all.

Bam - there it goes. When I read the first sentence I knew you were a writer, but you didn't list it anywhere. I then read the last sentence and was reaffirmed in my stipulations. :) Congrats on your success thus far, Andrea. I'm sure there's more to come.

People have told me before, but somehow the phrase "you are a writer" has more credibility when it is preceded by "Bam." Thanks, Tomasz!

_Everything_ means more when preceded by "Bam." Or at least that's the reason my niece gives when asked why she does it. ;-)

Tomasz Mieczkowski

Haha, your niece and I are kindred spirits, so it seems. :) I tend to save my "bams" for a special occasion. If you abuse it, its value will diminish.
