Getting started in this business is hard. We all know that. It takes a lot of money to make a feature film - even one on a low budget. It's even harder when your a woman. Female directors and writers are hard to come by in today's age, which is quite odd to me, considering the fact that women were at the center of the pioneer movement when film making first began. Ever heard of Mary Pickford? Anita Loos? Frances Marion? Probably not. They've been long forgotten by an industry that reaps the benefits of their hard work every single day. Now, I believe that a good director is a good director - regardless of gender. I think that artists should be judged on their talent. Of course we don't live in a perfect world. We live in a world were women are constantly being overlooked for positions that - a hundred and some years ago - they dominated. Why is that? Why have we suddenly decided that women can't perform on the same level as a masculine writer of director? Now, it's time for me to shamelessly promote myself, but for good reason. I'm currently in pre-production for a film called JANE. I co-wrote the film with two other women. I will director the film and produce it. I think it's important for all of us to support female film making. I think it's time to change the way we see women in this industry. Donating to my campaign isn't just about funding my project. It's about funding a better future for this industry. https://igg.me/at/Jane/x/13608851
