QUIVER by Sundance

Has anyone here heard of Quiver, the digital platform for self distributing your film?

Royce Allen Dudley

Was there something specific you wanted to know about it? I think you can find out most of what you need to know at www.quiverdigital.com

Mara Lesemann

I know someone who is in the process of having his feature go live with them - he's certainly been happy so far.

Rafael Pinero

Well, is it the way to go for distributing your film digitally without having a distributor taking 50% of the profits $$$?

G.R. Barnett

Thanks, I didn't know anything about this platform!

Royce Allen Dudley

The question is always about audience reach... is 50% of $1 better than 10% of $10? Choose wisely.

Rafael Pinero

Hi Royce, I didn't understand your comment, could you elaborate?

Royce Allen Dudley

I think it's pretty self-explanatory. People get very focused on the percentage that they will received from a distribution deal as opposed to the actual numbers possible with that deal compared to other options.

Rafael Pinero

Well there's actually a big difference, if you get a distributor to do the digital platform distribution for you he gets 50%, so in the end the platform gets 30%, the remaining 70% is divided 50% the distributor and 50% percent the Producers. If you do the digital distribution yourself with Quiver, you will be eliminating the distributor fees, so you get your full 70% and the platform will get their 30%. I am talking about digital distribution. Not theatrical or TV.

Royce Allen Dudley

That missed my point... you have to be confident that the Quiver platform will exceed potential income from other deals (singular or plural). If there is no good deal, maybe Quiver is a good option. Otherwise, can it beat....name your deal. Percentage is just that. But percentage of what ?

Rafael Pinero

Well, difficult question to answer, percentage of what amount? Income I guess, how much will it sell? I don't know... But the reason why started this thread was to know if anyone here had any experience with Quiver, to see if it's better to do it yourself with Quiver or to have a distributor do it for you on digital platforms and split the income. I have a distributor who wants to get my film on digital platforms and he wants to keep 50%, but with the industry nowadays I don't know if you really need a distributor to do that for you.
