Introduce Yourself : Challenge, Accepted by Dayna Burnworth

Challenge, Accepted

I just saw the challenge RB posted and I am UP. FOR. IT. I feel like I could talk to much, so finding things to talk about isn't my problem. That said, I truly enjoy listening to the massive creative forces at Stage 32. Today is Sunday and I'm planning my week. I recently reshot two scenes from a proof of concept short I directed. This week I'm adding music and listening to tracks. Music makes me FEEL all the things. What soundtracks/songs from films and TV are your favorites? Or, what do you remember most, feel the deepest or can't get out of your head? Some of my favorites are: Forrest Gump, Lilo & Stitch, Mad Men, Dirty Dancing & Love Actually.

Carletta Carle Hurt

Hey, Dayna! I am accepting the challenge as well. I absolutely LOVE - Love Jones, Pretty Woman, Stand by Me, and really any movie that has a teacher in it (Mr. Holland's Opus, Coach Carter, Dangerous Minds, Sister Act II, etc).

Bryan Dusseau

Welcome to the challenge Dayna. As a film composer myself, the music in films really standout for me. I like soundtracks that are really animated such as Wall-e, and Up, to very synth based sountracks like It Follows, and Blade Runner, to bombastic sound tracks like Mad Max Fury Road. My favorite TV soundtracks are Vikings, Black Sails, Walking Dead, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Longmire. I could go on and on with this :)

Animated films get me in a very deep way. Probably the child within. I'm also very interested in the newish 'brahm' sounds like in Inception, Transformers, Battleship. Those otherwordly sounds cut very deep with anticipation.

Carlotta, I LOVE teacher films. Dead Poets Society! My favorites are writer films. The Secret Window, Adaptation, The Hours.

Jackie Sass

I just watched Liko and Stitch with my baby and I was impressed with how lovely the soundtrack is! I also loved the soundtrack the The Matrix when it first came out; it made me want to run around and punch stuff. My husband adores the soundtrack from The Bourne Identity and I've come to appreciate as well for it's spy-themed, sometimes sophisticated sometimes grungy feel.

Esther Farin

The beginning of Blue Crush when they play Could You be Loved is memorable for me - I always think of ocean waves when I hear it. :)

Zlatan Mustafica

Music sure helps. I don´t like it when it gets to quiet around me as I am writing. The scores of Hans Zimmer, late James Horner for example get my inspiration-juices flowing a bit. But it was one of Sara Bereilles´s songs that actually made me write a script in a day. So yeah, music definitely has the power to move, make you feel all kinds of things. :)

I have to know, Zlatan. Which song?

Zlatan Mustafica

She Used To Be Mine, written for her first ever musical "The Waitress". Amazing song.
