Screenwriting : Why THIS story? by Anne Pariseau

Anne Pariseau

Why THIS story?

What draws you to the project(s) you are working on right now? What ignites the passion for this particular film? What's it's purpose? For me, I'm drawn to the character arcs and relationships. With a background in psychology, I am passionate about those elements in films. Seeing a character grow, learn, develop or encourage that in the other characters. How about you? What draws you to your projects?

Anne Pariseau

Fascinating story Aray! I responded with some questions about your character in the other forum. Exploring the dark side definitely builds characters out.

Charlotte Talley

I also is drawn to my characters, then I think of something that they say or do to make a movie or scene in my movie.

Cherie Grant

I'm drawn to a fun idea with meaning.

William Martell

Everything I write either begins as some form of autobiography or begins as a cool concept and then I figure out why my subconscious came up with that idea (which helps me find the autobiographical root of the idea). Either way - it's me working through my problems in a format that hundreds of millions of people worldwide can see.

Anne Pariseau

That's awesome insight, William! I can see this likely happening frequently with authors ... if not what they would do, then at least what they would like to do or say. That sort of "I could have said...".

Cherie Grant

Willaim I have noticed that's what I do to an extent. When i look at all my work every piece has a similar meaning to other works. I guess what has meaning to me never goes away and is very strong in my creative outlet.

Adam Tester

I'm drawn to ideas that take something I've seen and does something new with it.

Anne Pariseau

I do like that "new twist on something familiar" feeling as well, Adam.

Anne Pariseau

Too true, Agata. Keep on battling! Love the passion. :)

David Taylor

The ideas you can only get rid of if you write them down.
