Do you know of any director who started off with a feature
Hello family, So I'm doing a little research, please do you know of any successful director who started off his directing career with a feature? Name and movie title please.
I met a director once called Neil Rolland. He told me that if you can do a feature, do a feature (he made his first for £2000), don't waste your time on shorts, a feature will get you recognised.

No, because unless you are self funded no one will back you unless they can see what your work is like, do shorts first.

Not sure if that would work for everyone but he had made shorts beforehand and said that doing a feature is what actually got him meetings.
