Hi Stage 32 Producers, Hoping you are all doing well, I am reaching out for guidance in finding a serious Producing apprenticeship. I have spent the last handful of years wading into the industry through the camera department, finding a strong knack for logistical organization, managing a team, and casting, however raising funds currently appears to be a skill that needs help. My Producing experience is riddled with learning how not to do something and what does work, and I do have two big projects on the horizon that are going extremely well. So I am not perfect but have experienced enough up and down to know that I can be an asset. Do you here, with all of your diverse experiences and levels of expertise, have advice or a need for someone willing to work their butt off? Thank you, Dan, for the quick response! While moving to LA is a viable first step, do you have any comments on the larger process that would follow relocation?

start researching LA based prod companies, indie producers. Buy a subscription to imdbpro. com. Learn Names of people , what they do, where they work at. Join a gym. Volunteer at Film Festivals. Work for free at American Film Market. Work at a trendy, expensive coffee shop like Urth Cafe or Aroma. Dont wait for Luck. Make your own. Put yourself in places where people with $$$ who work in Entertainment hang out/socialize.
I agree with Dan. You have to make your own luck. One of my instructors in a webinar once recommended for people to volunteer at a local film festivals and local theaters that give Q&A's. I'd highly recommend that. It's a great place to start networking locally off-line.
