Your Stage : Auditioning by Angela DiMarco

Auditioning

Dear Actors, I am an actor myself but once I started producing, I have been doing more casting. I am the casting director on a TV pilot, which I just finalized the whole cast. Here are a few tips to make sure you stand out in the room and help get you that callback and possibly cast. EASY REMINDERS (but you'd be surprised)... •Bring a headshot/resume •KNOW the shoot dates and if you have conflicts •If we provided a full script to your agents, READ IT •Leave your baggage in your car (literally and emotionally) WISDOM NUGGETS •If I ask you if you have any questions, don't spit off 20 questions just to try and chat •If you truly have questions about character, try to get that answered from your agent BEFORE getting in the casting room. That way you can come in PREPARED •When you come in there room, be frequently but go straight to your mark. No handshakes or hugs •Be prepared, make strong choices based on the sides and script (if provided) •Do your work and drop the mic and go. I want to see you in the moment and when you leave, still be thinking about what you did •THIS IS YOUR TIME. Connect to your reader (even if they give you nothing) and take control of the room •ACTIVE LISTENING. I have to see what you do in the UNspoken moments even more so than the spoken ones ALWAYS •Breathe •Be Yourself •Have Fun •Be Mighty Angela DiMarco aka Mama DiMarco Actor, Producer, Acting Coach and Casting
