I have done costume work for independant films and theatre. I would love to move into union work. Can anyone offer any tips on how to go about getting hours in so I can join the costume designers guild? thank you :)
hi kristina, just read your post. not sure where you are located , if LA than yes the guild but if elsewhere than you would want to look into united scenic artists 829. i used to do the interviews for them a number of years back. i am also on stage 32 because i am interested in recruiting stylist for a made to measure menswear company. it's a great way to supplement your income while you are doing costuming. it is also freelance....if you are interested in know more , contact me at patricia@patriciasarnataro.com
Find the Guild local in your area and call them up. They will tell you the entry requirements. Better visit them with a copy of your resume/C.V. and get on the "list" to be called as a day player when they can't fill a spot with a union member.
