Hey everyone. My friends and I are starting a video-on-demand platform for indie movies and shows. To gain more insight on how to build a service that benefits indie content creators, I figured I come here and seek some feedback. What are some of the biggest challenges or problems your face with regards to distributing your content?
Christopher, the simple challenge that we have faced and are slowly overcoming is that currently the large distribution entities and broadcast networks have total control - as the world of Over the Top (OTT) and Internet of Things (IOT) and a global connected world comes to fruition, we believe our model and payout to our content providers will empower them (filmmakers and content creators) to force a shift in the industry where there is a greater portion of revenue, more creative control and non-binding global distribution agreements in place as opposed to the binding restrictive segmented region distribution that has been put in place by the very entities in control. You see, innovation in the industry has disappeared - they are putting out super hero movies over and over and network shows that all have the same concept and different characters... the innovation is in the INDIE filmmakers and as a global audience thirsty for quality affordable content - they WILL pay for access may times over... this is being proved by AkyumenTV and www.akyumen.com
