Hello Stage 32! For those of you in the LA area, where are some of your favorite places to write, besides the typical Starbucks/Coffee Bean set-up? I work form home, so I find it hard to "clock-out" from my home office and then get into my creative zone for writing. Not to mention the cabin fever! Any suggestions?

The Billy Wilder Room in the Writers Guild Foundation Library provides a great vibe/atmosphere to write. Where else can you be surrounded by so many great scripts while working on your own? No where. The Powell Library at UCLA, and various coffee shops around the city and the SFV and the SGV are cool, too. Outside, I really liked sitting at any of the local beaches - from Venice to Zuma and all points in between. The Self Realization Shrine off Sunset and The Huntington Gardens in San Marino are great places to write, too. The grounds of the old Getty Villa; the picnic tables in Griffith Park; the dog parks in a couple of the canyons; and the overlook above the Hollywood Bowl are great places, too. Good luck and Happy Writing! RIP, GWEN IFILL (September 29, 1955 - November 14, 2016)

I've seen one writer work from the mall. A change of scenery is always conducive to imagination. Your story is about characters. Where do you encounter a plethora of characters in a short span of time?

When I lived in LA, I had a studio loft in downtown. My fav places were all walking distance: central Library, LA Live Marriot Hotel lobby, Grand Central Market, Standard Hotel rooftop, Pershing Sq.,
fiona Aspiring Writers & Filmmakers live east of Highland Avenue and working Writers & Filmmakers live west of Highland Avenue :)
My notebook primarily.
Awesome! I'll have to check some of these out.

During spring and summer I often write in parks. Of course, this time of year it gets dark at 4pm or something so that doesn't work. PS: I wrote most of an action script called THE TRADE (never made) in The Blue Room bar in Burbank... and Residuals Bar in Studio City used to have the posters for all of the movies that were written there on the walls (before the new owners). The reason for the Blue Room - the script was an assignment with a deadline, and it was across the street from a Starbucks (day shift writing).

Fab places are Messhall on Los Feliz - its a bar, open late. The Coffee Bean on Hillhurst, just round the corner, has a great outdoor space and muchos sockets. I find Bricks and Scones, North Larchmont Blvd v chill. Solar de Cahuenga is great but parking poor. They have a valet for cheap but they fill up their spaces fast. They have empanadas that are deeelicious. Bring your own extender if you need power. Sabor Y Cultura is where QT wrote Reservoir Dogs - if it's good enough for Quentin it's good enough for...
