Introduce Yourself : Dave Barak, Malfunction Films, San Diego by David A. Barak

Dave Barak, Malfunction Films, San Diego

Hello everyone, I've been on Stage32 for quite awhile - at least three years - but I haven't been very active. However, I have a project that's likely to begin shooting in the spring of 2017. It's a short version of what I plan to develop into a feature. It's a satire called ████████. Right now it's coming in at about 14 minutes, but I keep looking for ways to shave time off to make it a more tempting festival entry. (Okay, okay, the alternate name is REDACTED.) I'll be looking for cast and crew soon, and believe it or not, I'm not going to come knocking for anyone to contribute to my crowdfunding campaign... because there isn't a crowdfunding campaign. This cash for this short is already on-hand. Prop and costume acquisition have been ongoing, as well as location scouting. The only steps still to go are finalizing the script and building the team. The film, even in its short form, is a little complex - at least nine speaking parts (maybe 11) and five locations (maybe up to seven or eight depending on where the current rewrite takes me). So for this reason - multiple shooting days - I'm limiting my cast and crew search to the San Diego area. It's not a big enough project at this point to warrant driving down from Orange County or L.A. And there will be pay - not a lot, but something. It'll almost certainly be non-union, at least at this point. Anyway, if you're interested, you an visit the film's website for a little more information. There are still a few areas to be built-out (no bios for cast and crew yet, no press kit yet, etc.), but there's plenty there to give you an idea of the tone of the film. You can get to the REDACTED website here: http://www.redacted-film.com. ████████ - What you don't know won't ████ you. - Dave

Thanks Matt! I'd forgotten about the jobs area. That's what I get for not spending enough time here.
