Introduce Yourself : You've gotta believe! by Mark Dresner

Mark Dresner

You've gotta believe!

The very first professional writing I did was for an insurance company brochure. And I've wanted to write a screenplay for eons.

Then, about a year ago, I finally got off my butt and wrote one! And now I'm working on #2.

Now I'm investing every spare moment of my time developing new stories for the screen.

Like Napoleon Hill (of Think and Grow Rich fame) says: "Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve." And I firmly believe at least one of my features WILL be produced.

Stephen Foster

Mark, I love Nap Hill! I've been studying him for years. congrats on the screenplay. now, make it pay off!

Richard "RB" Botto

Good for you for following your passion, Mark. And congrats on finishing that first screenplay. Always the toughest hurdle to carry.

Serafin Soto

Hi Mark, good work, I love it.

As for writing company brochures, that helps cover the business side of the "Movie Business", as one could suppose?

Well I believe so, in learning that developing your story is not the same as, selling your story.

Would you weigh in with a thought or opinon? @ Mark Dresner

Good luck and Happy Writing! :)

Mark Dresner

Well, in copywriting I do both, Serafin. I create stories that I use to sell something. Generally when I write copy for an advertising/marketing story there's a "turn" that transitions to the sell (the finale).

Screenplay may have multiple stories (scenes) that are tied together into a bigger story. Though in the end we're still selling to our audience.

I appreciate your timely and thought out response Mark Dresner , great feedback!

If I may humbly request a a little blog post of said topic, like...

"Do we approach a project with marketing in mind?"

"Talltell signs a scipt isn't marketable."

"Your script. Can you sMell it?" (lol, I dunno.)

I know people get paid for this stuff but considering the demand (achem) "me",

I'd rather explore "marketing" sooner than later. Again, Thanks man!
