truth is unless you're attending NATPE or ATV fest or you have a great agent or personal connection, youre not going to be pitching to a network. And it totally depends on what youre pitching.
Danny Manus is correct. You're gonna need a helluva contact list or be the "one in a million" long-shot to pitch to a network and get $$$ to shoot a pilot. But Issa Rae did it. Follow her playbook.
You should enter contests.....like the Stage32 Comedy Contest going on right now. Contests help to filter the funny from the FUNNY from the FUNNY FUNNY. If your show script is FUNNY FUNNY....bingo!......there's your chance to have meetings with the agencies and production companies that DO get to pitch to networks like you mentioned.
You should also keep an eye out for the Viacom contests and internship offerings, and other network contests and internship offerings.
You can also buck the long odds like the Broad City ladies did, and produce your own low-budget show; air it on Youtube; and have the big media companies offer you a deal and make all your dreams come true like blue glue.
Remember your goals and aspirations. Good luck, Jaaaaaaaaaaclyn!
