Michael Chua

I am a Singapore-based actor-writer. Recently, I have acted as the lead character in "Certified Dead", a feature film produced and directed by Marrie Lee, aka Cleopatra Wong. The film won The Best International Film Award at the 14th Royal Bali International Film Festival in 2016 and is an official selection in UK Screen One, Utah International Film Fest, Brazil International Film Fest, ASEAN International Film Fest Awards and Hanoi International Film Fest.

I have also acted in "ilo ilo", a feature film directed by Anthony Chen, which won the Camera d'Or award in 2013 Cannes Film Festival and the 50th Golden Horse Awards in 2014.

Two of the short films ("Gift" and "Hentak Kaki") that I have acted in went viral online and have garnered more than 25 million hits. I have also won the Best Performance Award twice ("Hentak Kaki" and "Detour"), at the 3rd and 5th Singapore Short Film Awards (2012 & 2014).

I am currently working on a TV ad for a major bank in Singapore and a voice-over project in two Chinese dialects (Hokkien and Teochew) for the National Environment Agency of Singapore.

In my free time, I make tropical fruit wines, use them to concoct fusion dishes, eat them, get fat and hit the gym.
