It seems no matter how hard I try to get into acting I feel like a late bloomer and I do mean a LATE bloomer! 40yo and all I have to my name is an extra in very few independent films and a PA on a web series. I just don't see my turn coming no matter how hard I try. :(

Kimberly Remsen - what about community theatre? And you can always start a local group in the Hudson Valley, too. Churches and fraternal organizations will give you space. What about being an actress who goes to hospitals to entertain patients, or tours in senior citizens centers? What about bringing a site-specific show to a local restaurant, Kim? If you can't get into the box, think outside the box. Good luck.

You know that's something I never thought of. May have to give that avenue a go. But what to do to entertain I will not be a clown they already got those at the hospital doing that gig.
Kimberly Remsen who said CLOWN ACT? You can offer Staged Readings of classic plays to groups & get paid, ex: "Before Breakfast" by Eugene O'Neill, etc. You do know that many libraries & senior homes pay actresses to give performances, yes?? Good luck. Knock 'em dead.

Have you thought about expanding your "role" in what you do in the film industry? For instance, taking work as a PA or a DA? Though those are not acting jobs, they are get you around industry people, help you meet them. I started out as crew--and still do it when I can--always letting people know I'm an actress and looking to for a film I can work on in that capacity. It's a who knows who business, and before I knew it, I began to meet the who.
