Is there any way to report a profile? I've received a network request from a member whose profile smacks of an online dating scam. There's no information about what he does creatively, he's made no posts, and everyone in his network is female.
I think Ive seen "Report Buttons" but cannot remember whereabouts on the website. The Mods do a good job of weeding out suspect members. These people tend to disappear on their own. Ive had my share of invites NOT Related to Creativity. These have ranged from Anti Abortionists to people asking me to send cash. My worst experience was when I had posted " Im into all things Indie" my private box was stuffed with messages "Why don't you fry yourself an Indie Egg and Indie Tomato?" Etc etc. I can laugh now but at the time shook with rage. Best not take them to heart.
B.S. to the above. The mods do nothing to weed these these people out during the application process. New spammers appear almost daily and it's left up to the membership to find and report them through the "Contact" button on the bottom of the page.
The "mods" are member Lounge Moderators. We are not staff, nor tech. And the tech staff and management do have operations/computer robots in place. Plus S32 is an open platform. And, yes, a few things (out of hundreds of thousands) slip through on occasion, but are caught. Unfortunately these spammers are a common nuisance of the Internet.
Kerri, if you receive some strange network request simply "Decline" the request. Ignore it. If you receive some strange message through private messaging, simply click "Report as spam" which is right next to "Delete" found directly under and to the right of each message. If you see something odd in the Lounge you can let me know, or send a notice through "Contact Us." Either way. Extra protective eyes over the community are greatly appreciated. Very much so! So thank YOU! I hope that helps!
Oh, and also, Kerri, if you receive some strange message through private messaging and you do "Report as spam" that blocks that person from further contacting you. Below is the message that pops up when you click "Report as spam":
Are you sure you want to report this message as spam?
The sender of this message will be removed from your network.
This message and all other messages from this sender will be removed from your messages list.
The sender will no longer be able to contact you via private message on Stage 32.
I've reported the profile via the Contact form. He had not tried to contact me yet, but I've been exhaustingly pursued by dating scammers on multiple platforms, so I knew the signs the minute I read this profile and saw that he had not included any men in his network.
@JD Hartman. Thank you for update. I was previously under the impression that these Misfits had some sort of "Policing" because it takes a while for the general readers to hit enough buttons to get them out. Thanks also @ Beth for re assurance of general guidelines.
Well, I have no idea what "during application process" means?—again this is an open, free platform. All you need is an email address to join, and membership is open to anyone age 13 and up. As explained there are operations/systems/protections in place. :)
BFH said, " And the tech staff and management do have operations/computer robots in place."
BS again. It was even partially true, there wouldn't be the weekly incursions on S32. I've reported plenty of spammers, sometimes I receive an acknowledgement, often not. Tech staff and management, really?? Where the post from them containing the apology and the reassurance that a plan is being implemented to reduce or eliminate the spammers?
As Beth said, this is an open platform with over 500,000 members, the team are few and it's impossible to police everything. As moderators, we do our best as well, I reported a spammer who was promoting yoga a couple of days ago and the team deleted them straight away. A little bit of help from members is appreciated when these things happen. If you can't find a way of deleting spammers, report them to the team and they will take the appropriate action, or send Beth and I a message with the link and we will sort it for you through the team.
Actually that's Simpson Todd... And his account is subject to suspension due to spamming the site with an advertising message. Members can post in any section not related to their field.
RW said, "As Beth said, this is an open platform with over 500,000 members,...." The problem isn't related to the size of the membership, it's related to the # of new posts daily.
Getting back to the subject of this thread and the OP's concern... After reviewing/researching this account, it was suspended. The profile photo apparently is a stolen image of Lt. Gen James L. Terry. And this scam has indeed made the rounds on other platforms, other websites, so THANK YOU for sharing your concern, Kerri! Again very much appreciated! :) Should anyone have any other concerns please feel free to send them my way, or to Rosalind, or to Shawn Speake. Best to you! :)

This action cannot be undone.

Multiple platforms? Kerri, if you have a moment... Please send me the account name. Lemme take a look. :)
Not the same guy, but as a woman of a certain age and certain body type, I am frequently a target. Sent you the message.

JD, I'm not going to argue with you about site operations. But you are not fully aware, nor do you have all the facts. Best to you.
Wow another questionable profile, Todd Simpson: https://www.stage32.com/profile/616409/about Posting in any number of topics unrelated to film financing.
Guess the S32 robots are asleep or their batteries are run down from having partied all night.
